Knowing the Guitar Basics
The Guitar is composed with a Body, Neck & Head Stock prior to getting any hardware. The flat part of the Guitar Neck is the Fret Board, (the other side of the Neck is rounded). The spaces between the metal bars are called Frets. The part that holds the strings off of the fret board is the Nut, it's located on the Neck before the Head Stock. The area between the Nut and the first metal bar is the 1st Fret; from there 2nd Fret and so on down the entire Neck.
The 3 parts of the Guitar that come in contact with the Guitar Strings are called (starting from the body of the Guitar and working itself up) - Bridge, Nut & Tuners.
Choosing a Guitar Pick-
It's Best to start with using a standard Triangular Pick. You will want to start with a Thin Pick to help in avoiding breaking Guitar Strings.
---A good choice is a Nylon (.38) Pick.
Properly holding a Guitar Pick-
Guitar Picks should be held between the tip of the Thumb and tip of the Middle Finger, the Index Finger will also be on the pick. The Index Finger will be on the Pick. But, it will only be used for control.
--If it's Hard doing it that way - Work with what feels Best for you.
Getting Tuned up!
One of the Best habits that one can build when playing the Guitar is Tuning before playing- every time!
Aim for the same sound when playing with other musicians.

Tip for 'Fast Guitar Chord Transitions'
I've found that it helps to apply Fingers to the Strings - in the order of your Hand. In the Diagrams, I have the Fingers listed with the Thickest Strings to the Thinnest Strings. This is Normally Standard.
However - I always start with my Index Finger 1st, when applying my fingers to the Guitar Strings.
Let's Look at the 'G' Guitar Chord (in the picture below).
I start with the Index Finger 1st on the 5th String. The Middle Finger 2nd, on the 6th String. Lastly, I'd use my Ring Finger on the 1st String.
The Fingers have a Natural Tendency to 'Move Much Faster' when they go in order. The fingers usually have a Number assigned to them. Index Finger (1), Middle Finger (2), Ring Finger (3) & Pinky Finger (4).
---If you go in this order, you'll find that your able to do Chord Transitions 'Much Faster'!

For Fast Transitions, go in the order of the Fingers. The 1st Finger to place on the Fret Board, should be your Index Finger. 2nd Finger - your Middle Finger. 3rd Finger - Ring Finger & so on.
Repeat the Chord Cycle over & over. This will allow you to get the feel of changing Guitar Chords. Count 1+2+3+4 for each Chord, transition to the next Chord. When transitioning to the same Chord, lift up the finger & back down again.
This'll allow the mind to start a new count of 4 - Beneficial for timing.
Precision is extremely important when playing the Guitar. If a string is not pressed down hard enough, the note will not sound clear and there will be a buzzing sound. Your fingers will be bending in some ways that they are not use to.
-Be patient and take your time.
Try to practice for 15-20 minutes every day!
---Practice on Lesson 1 for 1 Week, before moving onto Lesson 2---
